Julep Maven January Sneak Peek: Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover

Julep has released a sneak January Maven peak for the January 2013 Maven monthly boxes. Selection time for these boxes tent to run around the 24th to 27th of every month, with the monthly boxes shipping out on the first of the incoming month. The January selection time will be around the Christmas Holiday seasons, so hopefully the selection time will be longer than usual, since most people will be too busy with their family, shopping, living their lives, etc (except for people like me of course who live on the internet 😉 )

The Vanish Cuticle Softener and Remover (1 fl oz or 29.57 ml) looks like will be replacing the Julep Hand and Cuticle Stick, which has been discontinued both on the Julep website and on Sephora as well (though at time of writing you can still find on Amazon.) It may come back later but right now its been shelved to give more spotlight to this item.

Julep included a YouTube video on the Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover:

The Julep Hand and Cuticle Stick is a twist up product that you press on your hands and cuticle and is currently priced at $22. The Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover is priced at $32 and it includes a Cuticle Pusher to push back your cuticles (You sanitize your Cuticle Pusher after every time you use it in the dishwasher, or by boiling in hot water for 2-5 minutes, this will prevent introducing bacteria into your cuticle resulting in a nail infection). Julep describes both as:

  • Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover: Used in over 250,000 Julep Nail Parlor manis, this professional cuticle softener makes it easy to maintain gorgeous nails. The lanolin-enriched formula quickly removes overgrown cuticles, clearing the way for a cleaner, prettier mani (or pedi). Over time, you’ll notice a dramatic decrease in cuticle regrowth
  • Cuticle Pusher: Tame overgrown cuticles with the same pro tool used in over 250,000 professional Julep Nail Parlor manis.

The ingredients are pretty simple unlike the cuticle stick which has a million ingredients; just Water, Petroleum Distillates, Triethanolamine, Caustic Potash, Calcium Carrageenan.

My thoughts

Probably a good idea to receive as part of the monthly boxes since every both is equal to $19.99, but its a little bit too pricey on its own. Will have to see in person how good it is to see if it warrants the $32 price.
