Nail Polish Review

Deborah Lippmann describes Sweet Dreams as a “candied pink glitter lacquer.” Sweet Dreams is a 3D Holographic polish, which Deborah Lippmann describes as:

“A step away from my signature glitter, my 3D Holographic formula has an edgier feel. While I was in the development process, I played with a ton of hues adding different-sized flecks of glitter to create a unique layered, multifaceted 3-D effect that’s super modern but still completely wearable.”

This limited edition shadeΒ  is a candy pink flake glitter with a jelly texture. The base is slightly opaque/slightly pigmented reminiscent of the french manicure pink sheer nail polishes. The flake glitter is more duochrome than holographic, mostly turning shades of pink, red and orange. Because the base is so sheer, it order to create an opaque look, you have to use many coats. All the pictures and video show 3 thin coats, though at the end, I felt a 4th thin coat would have made it slightly better. This nail polish captures better in low lighting, since in low lighting you can see all of the different glitter that is in each coat. Its difficult to photograph Sweet Dreams in daytime setting, because the glitter blends in with the pink so you get this “uneven coating” look unless you really pile on the nail polish. I know a lot of nail bloggers do pile it on for the sake of the photos, but normally people do not have the time or patience to pile, wait, pile, and wait. I tend to do 3 coats max, and if that’s the results, that’s the results. I think its more honest that way. With all of that said, I don’t like the outline of my nails showing. But you can get rid of that using more nail polish πŸ™‚

Deborah Lippmann’s Sweet Dreams is extremely chip resistant. I tend to be lazy and not use base coats or top coats, and I can get a good wear without experiencing any chips. Most Deborah Lippmann’s shades are very chip resistant (they are in general glitter polishes, and glitter polishes last longer because they need a stronger base for the glitter to stick to)
