Peeled Snacks Apple-2-the-core Review

Peeled Snacks Apple-2-the-core

I love apple snacks but I had no idea if the Peeled Snacks Apple-2-the-core were going to be sweet, sweet-tart or just plain tart (I have seen them inside Starbucks but never bought them due to price). At Amazon, you can get a case of 10 altogether which drops down the price dramatically. Its actually cheaper to buy a case at Amazon than the manufacturer’s website ($15 compared to $20).

If you have never heard of Apple-2-the-core, they are essentially apple slices made from organic apples (USDA organic certified) and are gluten, dairy, and wheat free. 1 bag equals one serving of fruit and the snacks are generally sold at Starbucks.

First Impression of Peeled Snacks Apple-2-the-core

I am pleasantly surprised over how sweet (and chewy!) the apple slices were!

Not only are the apple slices cut very uniquely (the bag appears to represent 1 apple that has been cored, then cut on its side) but the slices are sweeter than plain store-bought apples. I looked at the bag to look at the ingredients and surprisingly no sugar has been added (no preservatives too!); Its like the sundrying process brought out the sugar in each individual piece.

each piece was so DELICIOUS, my only complain is that I wish there were more apple pieces per bag. I finish my bag in about 3-5 minutes.

On paper, they are good for any dieter: gluten-free, organic apples, 12% of your daily recommended fiber. (as well as 2% Iron). Its also a low glycemic food. And for the foodie, they taste good too! You will go through many bags very quickly, I promise 🙂 But hey CEO of Peeled Snacks, can you drop the price just a little?

How to make Peeled Snacks Apple-2-the-core

You can probably make these on your own if you live in a hot climate area. The slices appear to be slightly sun dried, so leaving out apple slices should give you roughly the same results.  It has to be sun-dried (i.e. dried in the sun), and you can’t reproduce the results in a oven otherwise they will get baked instead of dried. That’s why some of the pieces get warped. You can only get that by letting them bake under the sun for a few hours.
