Julep Maven January 2014 Monthly Box Review

I got my Julep Box for January 2014! and I do love the little “post-it” quote card that came with it:

2014 will be my year.

and I hope 2014 will be everyone’s year. January’s collection is called the Boudoir Collection which we released a sneak peak of all the swatches a month ago. There were a couple of boxes to choose from, but starting 2 months ago, Julep introduced a new box of standard items just in case nothing satisfied. Last month’s box concisted of the Julep Freedom Polymer Top Coat along with the Oxygen Nail Treatment (with a box of nail polish remover pads). I like this box because I feel you get more bang for your bucks. And that’s what I selected for January 2014.

  • Ta-Da! Quick Dry  Drops (Retail $18 on Amazon)
  • Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover (Retail $14 on Amazon)
  • Essential Cuticle Oil (Retail $18 on Amazon)

the free add-on were some wood cuticle sticks. Previous add-ons consisted of candy corn (for October 2014), as well as green tea oil removing tissue paper, and laffy taffy.

As you can see by the essential cuticle oil, the package has been redesigned.  Previous design included a black and white package:

julep-cuticle-oil-oldIf you like to buy your items on Amazon or another secondary market (i.e. eBay), and receive the old design, then you are receiving the old bottle effective 1/1/14. The Ta-Da! Quick Dry Drops also has a new box (it was previously called just Julep Quick Dry Drops and it was discontinued and not carry by Julep for many months until the Ta-Da! version was reintroduced).

Review

I fully recommend that if you are going for the Julep monthly products, go for the products and not the nail polishes. I used to be a It Girl for many months now and have switch to the products monthly boxes. Nail Polishes frequently go on sale, and its not rare to see Julep significantly drop prices from time to time (you can find polishes for as low as $2.99). The products rarely go on sale besides the Maven discount. So if you want more bang for your bucks, skip the nail polish, unless its a $4.99 add on (you can have up to 3 add-ons per box)
